In September 2008, TVB aired The Four (少年四大名捕) drama starring Raymond Lam (林峯), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), Kenneth Ma (馬國明) and Sammul Chan (陳鍵鋒) and leaves a deep impression to the audiences. The novel tells the story of four young constables, Heartless (無情), Iron Fist (鐵手), Chaser (追命) and Cold Blood (冷血) who work together to solve cases.

Raymond was arranged to act as Heartless who sat on the wheelchair while Ron played as Cold Blood and Sammul portrayed as Chaser. As for Kenneth, he acted as Iron First with positive energy and they remain dashing and stylish even after 10 years have passed.

It is considered a rare opportunity for 4 actors to work together and comparison between them is inevitable. Hence, rumours of their conflicts are circulating at the time. Kenneth Ma is the only one left and continues to work for TVB and is heavily groomed by the company. Although he is given the main lead in many series and perceives as the hot favourite for TV King based on The Exorcist’s Meter (降魔的) drama in 2017, but Kenneth loses his chance once again.

Ron Ng joined TVB for 13 years and decided to venture into China after leaving in 2015. His workload has been increasing and he is pointed to receive a sum with 6 digit for shooting every episode of Chinese drama (結婚為什麼). It is not surprising that Ron can afford to buy a property within 3 years and also film TVB drama, Flying Tiger (飛虎之潛行極戰) as a freelance actor in recent year. He will be shooting Flying Tiger (飛虎之潛行極戰2) series in October 2018.

Raymond Lam worked in TVB for 15 years and begun to develop his career in China after his contract expired in 2014. Based on his fame in TVB, he filmed Wei Zifu (衛子夫) and Detectives and Doctors (陸小鳳與花滿樓) drama which ended up with average responses. Hence, Raymond decided to shift into singing career and achieve satisfactory results. In recent years, he joined Louis Koo’s (古天樂) company and Louis spent $2 billion to shoot the movie version, A Step into the Past (尋秦記) starring Jessica Hsuan (宣萱) and Raymond.

Among the four actors, Sammul Chan is the first one to leave TVB and concentrates his career in China thereafter. He films more than 20 drama and is given the male lead most of the time. Apparently, Sammul enjoys the highest popularity in China and has 5.88 million fans on Weibo, compared to Raymond who has 1.34 billion fans only. In 2011, he filmed Beauty’s Rival in Palace (美人心計) series with Ruby Lin (林心如) and it achieved excellent responses. Sammul also won several awards based on the same drama. Subsequently, the netizens classified him as the “most dashing Jiang Ziya” (最帥的姜子牙) in The Investiture of the Gods (封神英雄榜) drama. It pushes his career to a high peak and Sammul promotes his new series on Weibo at times.
