Yammie Lam (藍潔瑛) played Spider goblin (春三十娘) and fell in love with Stephen Chow (周星馳) portrayed as Joker (至尊寶), but his heart was with Bai Jing Jing (白晶晶) acted by Karen Mok (莫文蔚)) in A Chinese Odyssey (西遊記) film. Spider goblin then met Ng Man Tat (吳孟達) as Joker’s second-in-command and ended up together. She even lamented: “I am a pretty woman but ended up with you……”

Despite a one-sided love, but the second-in-command was completely loyal and willing to become Spider Goblin’s punch bag to vent her frustration. Finally, his sincerity moved her and she sacrificed herself in order to save him. It was a touching and sad ending.

Yammie Lam’s Love History

Yammie developed a relationship with on-screen writer (鄧啟揚) in 1983 and it was a hard blow to her when her boyfriend suddenly killed himself through gas inhalation in 1986. She always praised that he had been a good boyfriend all along.

In 1996, Yammie was pointed to date a billionaire entrepreneur, Henry Cheng (鄭家成) and both were seen having fun together in disco frequently. It was rumoured that she even moved into a luxury property given by him and Yammie told her friends Henry was her ideal boyfriend who was mature and thoughtful. However, she was perceived as the third party between Henry and his wife, Chow Tsui Ying (鄺美雲) and ended their relationship eventually.

In 2003, Yammie was close to tying the knot with her Canadian boyfriend but her mental problem forced him to diminish the marriage thought. She was pointed to receive treatment at a hospital in Eastern District in 2004 and and an artiste, Meg Lam (林建明) visited her. Yammie hoped to see her boyfriend again but they had lost contact ever since.

Yammie continued to have mental issue and was declared bankrupt in 2006. She denied the romance with a retired lawyer (曾權威) who was 68 years old but he paid for her living expenses, which was her last financial support.
