Jacky Cheung (張學友) held the first session of his concert at night on 11th January 2019 and said emotionally at the ending: “I did struggle before holding the concert this time. It is 219 sessions tonight and thank you to everybody for giving me an opportunity. Hopefully I will bring in better performances in Hong Kong and other places in order to show Hong Kong can do it.”

Before accepting an interview at the back stage after the concert, the organisation committee announced Jacky completed 219 sessions which broke the record of Asian singers holding the concert. Jacky said: “It is very stressful whenever holding the concert in Hong Kong as it make his immune system weak. I already felt unwell during the concert in Kaohsiung previously and sprained my waist while continuing to Hong Kong. There is 14 sessions remaining and I am currently taking flu medicine.”

When mentioned about Andy Lau (劉德華) cancelled 7 sessions of the concert due to throat infection, Jacky said: “I feel very worried and my stress increases upon reading the news. I am considered one of the singers cancelling most concerts and hope Andy will have a speedy recovery. (Your eldest daughter appears very focused as the audience?) She is my fan and watches many sessions. (Sing together on the stage?) Nope.”

In addition, Jacky denied he would be withdrawing from the singing industry after this concert: “It is unsure if the organisation committee deliberately releases the news in order to increase the ticket sales. Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow. I really love my work and dislike retirement. I do not mind trying new challenges and assume I cannot dance initially, but turns out that I can do it. Thus, I will continue to work.”
