Edwin Siu (蕭正楠) announced Priscilla Wong (黃翠如) and he were married in New Zealand in last April during 2018 TVB Anniversary Awards (萬千星輝頒獎禮). As her father, Wong Wing Wah (黃永華) is the biggest shareholder of Luen Wong Group Holdings (聯旺集團) previously, Edwin becomes the son-in-law of a “millionaire”.

41 years old Edwin is currently known as “A grade” actor and earns steady income in TVB, but has a bitter history before becoming famous. His father came from a poor family and managed to earn a stable income in educational industry after working hard. Edwin illustrated: “My dad had a hard time all along and decided to buy a chicken meal after getting his first pay in educational sector. He finally gets to eat a full meal.” During his childhood, Edwin had been living a village life with his sister (5 years old younger) and staying in a hostel in Tai Lam Correctional Institution (大欖涌懲). He used to cycle, take the dog for strolling and run around with his sister. The most amusing part is one gets to see the convicts cutting the grass and running from the window at the hostel. Once, a convict tried to escape through steel wire netting but was arrested eventually.

However, the good days do not last forever. Edwin’s father was diagnosed with nasopharyngeal carcinoma when he was studying secondary 5. He decided to keep it from his family upon knowing it a few years ago and as the eldest son, Edwin was forced to work while studying a part-time course in IT. Initially, he worked in IT and sales sectors, property agent and apprentice in sushi restaurant and became a model subsequently. Edwin was paid $500 for every 4 hours work and it was considered attractive to him at the time. It was also one of the reasons that led him to join the showbiz.

In 2002,  Edwin became a singer after picking by the senior management of a record company. As his father’s condition deteriorated and was forced to retire early, Edwin’s sister had to stop her studies in overseas and continue in Hong Kong. Edwin became the sole breadwinner but was sent to Mainland China to film series, due to his poor image as a newcomer at the time.
