Simon Yam (任達華) was attacked at a business event in Zhongshan on 20th July 2019 and underwent another surgery once returning to Hong Kong on the same night. On 22nd July, Simon’s manager, Mani Fok (霍汶希) visited him at the hospital and announced the good news before leaving: “He is transferred from ICU to a normal ward now and I reckon he will be discharged after 2 to 3 days later. Please do not worry. (How is his fingers’ injury?) It is very successful. He can move his fingers and it improves the blood circulation. He needs to go for physiotherapy though. (How is his abdomen?) He is fine and should be discharged in 2 to 3 days time. (How about his mental state?) Good. His family is accompanying him and he is eating porridge. Simon looks very energetic and please stop worrying about him.”

When asked if Simon had any nightmares after the accident, Mani replied nope: “I want to know why did the suspect stab him. (Pursuing the responsibility?) The organisation committee will arrange a representative to discuss with us in Hong Kong. Simon is indeed a good person and told me to forget about it. But we do not plan to pursue any responsibilities and want to know the motive of the suspect only.”

In the same afternoon, Simon shared photo of a teddy bear and updated about his safety on Weibo: “I am safe. Thank you.”
