On 4th August 2019, conflicts between the cops and citizens happened in Tin Shui Wai and a women was arrested due to assaulting the police. However during the arrest, that woman’s skirt and panties were exposed and Superintendent (余鎧均) of Police Public Relations Branch (警察公共關係科) explained that she was uncooperative and tried to struggle. Hence, 3 cops had to suppress her and she wore a skirt at the time.
On 5th August, Gloria Yip (葉蘊儀) posted an online message related to using sexual violence on a woman by the policemen: “What offence did she commit? Why is her panties removed with the crowd looking at her? Did the police ever think that it will cause psychological trauma and phobia to her? Can’t you allow the protestor to wear pants properly before boarding into the police vehicle? I believe the protestors have the right to wear their clothes but some people want to humiliate the female protestors so that they dare not stand up again. It is extremely shameful! Please verify that woman’s safety now! #protect Hong Kong women #it is a shame to insult the girls” Subsequently, Gloria uploaded a letter related to pursuing the responsibility to the police using sexual violence to suppress the protestors and urged the public to sign on it.
