On 5th August 2019, work strikes commenced in Hong Kong and many citizens held illegal activities and created congestion at metro stations and roads.
Radio Television Hong Kong (香港電台) and Commercial Radio Hong Kong (商業電台) have more than 10 DJ and some showed their supports for the work strikes which affected several radio programmes. On 4th August, my903 (叱咤903) posted a message on Facebook: “The show is affected because the host goes on a strike. We shall rename it as “my903 and leaving popular songs to Hong Kong” (叱咤903 留給香港的時代曲)!”
As for the program, Good Morning King (早霸王) hosted by Kitty Yuen (阮小儀), Sammy Leung (森美) and Marco, Sammy travelled to overseas and Kitty and Marco joined in the strikes. Thus, the show was changed to listening to songs and a voice clip was recorded in advance: “Good Morning King show is suspended for a day because the hosts applied for a day leave. It is changed to playing popular songs in Hong Kong and let’s root for the country!” Subsequently, other shows including (口水多過浪花) and (叱咤樂壇) were amended to playing songs as well.
Radio DJ, Vani applied leave to celebrate her birthday in Taiwan and shared the photo: “I give away all the blessings that I received on my birthday to Hong Kong this year.” Vani also felt overjoyed when Nicky Wu (吳奇隆) joined in the celebration: “Nicky remains the same after more than 20 years. He is a very nice man and our friendship is simple and full of warmth.”
In addition, 3 people hosted the show (瘋Show快活人) but Takanohana Kōji (貴花田) and (曾志豪) participated in the strikes. As for Joe Wong (王耀祖), he was a public servant and decided to apply leave and (蔡敬雯) became his replacement. The most important stuff were to play songs consisting of positive energy and updating the weather forecast and traffic condition.
