Due to the 2019 Hong Kong anti-extradition bill protests, some people damaged China flag and it caused huge dissatisfactions. Chinese television channel, CCTV (內地央視) launched the initiative called “the Five-starred Red Flag has 1.4 billion guards” (五星紅旗有14億護旗手) on Weibo and many artistes including Jackie Chan (成龍), Jordan Chan (陳小春), Hawick Lau (劉愷威), Daniel Chan (陳曉東) and Frankie Chan (陳勳奇) showed their supports. An interview of Jackie accepting from CCTV earlier went viral.
Jackie said towards the camera: “The recent happenings in Hong Kong make everyone worried and heartbroken. I immediately shared the social media post, “the Five-starred Red Flag has 1.4 billion guards” upon seeing it as need to express my thoughts as Hong Kong and China citizen. I pledge my loyalty to my country and must protect its flag. On the other hand, I really wish to participate in the activity and convey everyone’s feeling. For the past few years, I travelled to many countries and our country is developing speedily. It makes me feel proud being a China citizen and the Five-starred Red Flag is respected by the people worldwide. You will cherish it after losing the security, stability and peace and it resemble to the air. I am born in Hong Kong which is my hometown and China is my country too. I love my country and hometown and look forward to seeing the peace in Hong Kong again.”
