As Ali Lee (李佳芯) urged Hong Kong citizens to register for the citizenship online earlier, it angered the Chinese netizens and she was boycotted in Mainland China as a result. TVB also removed her lead role in Who Wants a Baby 2 (BB來了2) drama and the male lead, Chris Lai (黎諾懿) was implicated because of her. Kenneth Ma (馬國明) and Eliza Sam (岑麗香) became their replacements.
When asked about the rumours since Ali and Chris recorded the show (香港唱好演唱會) at night on 12th September 2019, she said: “I know it is postponed to next year and anything can happens. There is changes in the company all along. (Kenneth and Eliza are the replacements?) I only know it after reading the news article. (Feel disappointed?) Nope, as it is not the first time that it happens. Previously, I was supposed to play some roles but nothing eventually. As the artistes, we are usually reactive.”
As for Chris, he believed that he will work with Ali again and establish new chemistry when shooting other shows together: “I do not feel she is implicating me and there is no unhappiness. I definitely support her just like becoming TV Queen last year.” He emphasised he did not feel disappointed and may be given a chance to film Who Wants a Baby 3 (BB來了3) series in the future.
