Chris Lai (黎諾懿) joins the industry for 17 years. After graduating from TVB acting class in 2002, he was given the opportunity to film Hearts of Fencing (當四葉草碰上劍尖時) drama as the main lead and groomed as the “rising stars” with Raymond Lam (林峯), Ron Ng (吳卓羲), Bosco Wong (黃宗澤), Kenneth Ma (馬國明) and Sammul Chan (陳鍵鋒) by the company. However because of his poor acting skills, Chris was ordered to host children show for additional training and encountered obstacles since 2009.
Chris said: “Definitely feel unhappy as the rest have become main leads while I am still trying to catch up with them. They are perceived as Andy Lau (劉德華) and Tony Leung (梁朝偉) while I should be Kent Tong (湯鎮業). The news even pointed I was disqualified to be the “rising star”. At the time, I was young and went for drinking frequently since clueless about handling the problems. I hide at home as nobody wants to see and interview me.”
In addition, Chris recalled about planning to change to another occupation since no achievements for the past 10 years. Fortunately after filming Hunan Television show, Strictly Come Dancing (舞動奇跡) in 2011, it marked a turning point in his career and he said: “I happened to know a young girl, Gina Jin (金晨) in a dancing school in Beijing. She is very hardworking and dances 4 times a week. She gives me motivation but dancing for 13 to 14 hours daily is exhausting and I cannot dance due to bone fracture after 7 weeks later. Gina comes over to my hotel room and consoles me. Hence, I become positive again and look for an orthopedist engaged by Aaron Kwok (郭富城) in Hong Kong. Subsequently, I continued the competition and our team (一諾千金) increased from two to many supports. I can still remember the feeling upon crowning as the winner at the point.”
