Taiwanese actor Godfrey Gao (高以翔) collapsed while on the set of a competitive game show, Chase Me (追我吧) on 27th November 2019. Based on the information, he accepted the invitation by a fixed team member, Huang Jingyu (黃景瑜) due to friendship and was paid from $250,000 to $380,000 for one episode.
At the time, Jingyu was present and the production team continued the filming and failed to rescue Godfrey when some netizens revealed an “insider information”. The audiences heard Jingyu shouting for help: “Help! Please stop shooting! We must stop everything now!” According to the news source from Taiwanese media, there was no first-aid equipment and medical team and Jinyyu kept asking: “Where is the doctor?”
In addition, some witnesses told the journalists that they heard Godfrey said repeatedly he could not continue and keep waving his hand while running during the filming. He then sat down near the flowerbed and the shooting only stopped until lying down. The artistes and paramedics tried to rescue him and the shooting was officially halted, after Godfrey was taken to an ambulance and all artistes were ordered to return to the hotel thereafter.
Jingyu is a permanent team member of Chase Me show, known as a “crazy sportsperson” and had a numb bottom due to the exhaustion from the filming earlier. After confirming Godfrey’s death news in the same morning, Jingyu suffered from a big blow and had not posted any messages until now. His management company announced to cancel the live broadcast of his birthday party on 29th November and his fans were worried about his condition.
Lastly, another fixed team member, William Chan (陳偉霆) was also present at the set and accompanied Godfrey to the hospital. His manager, Mani Fok (霍汶希) said: “William has no reply right now.”
