Donnie Yen (甄子丹), film producer Wilson Yip (葉偉信) and martial arts choreographer Yuen Woo Ping (袁和平) promoted their new film, Ip Man 4: The Finale (葉問4:完結篇) in Shenzhen on 4th December 2019. Donnie revealed Wilson and he had an agreement and would agree to participate unless finding a new perspective: “At the time, Bruce Lee’s (李小龍) martial arts caused a heavy influence to the whole world and Ip Man is very influential as well. Everyone has some influence in different era and I believe Chinese martial arts should have an impact to worldwide after filming the third season.”

Donnie expressed he competed with different opponents and professional boxer Mike Tyson (泰臣) gave him a deep impression: “Because I love Thai boxing. He is considered a legend and I film the fighting scene with him by using my boxing skills and as an actor. In Ip Man 2 (葉問2) movie, fighting against Sammo Hung (洪金寶) gives me an unforgettable memory.”

When the media checked with Donnie again as he announced Ip Man 4: The Finale was his last martial arts film previously, he said: “Yes but it does not mean it is my last action movie since it can be added with effects. As for Chinese martial arts, it will not appear in foreign films and an actor must have solid foundation in order to shoot such movie. Thus, I always give my full efforts.”

As Woo Ping witnessed Donnie joining the show business, he remarked it was a pity upon knowing Ip Man 4: The Finale was his last martial arts film: “He is slightly clueless when working initially but very hardworking and manages to show an outstanding performance. Nobody can take over him and hopefully he can groom somebody for the sake of the movie industry.”
