73-year-old Lau Kong (劉江) works in TVB for 37 years and announced his leaving on 14th January 2020. When the reporters asked about the reason on the same night, he said: “I work in TVB for many years and the company might have changes and find me an insignificant staff. It is hard to say.” Although Lau Kong did not reveal the exact reason, but the news reported he left TVB because his salary was reduced from $60,000 at the high peak period to $7,500 and dismissed the rumours thereafter.

During a recent interview with the magazine, Lau Kong confessed he decided to leave TVB because of the wages reduction. The firm decreased his workload and salary at the same time. He added TVB cut his salary to half amount not long ago: “It is hard to stay there and we have to eat even if working in my favourite job. They have crossed my limit and it is meaningless to continue working over there. I cannot even pay for my car based on my current salary. Thus, I decide to leave.”
