The virus in Wuhan is wide-spreading and there is severe shortages of face masks and disinfectants in Hong Kong. On 30th January 2020, rumours related to Matt Yeung (楊明) giving out 100,000 boxes of face masks for free in his soup restaurant from 4pm onward went viral. The citizen will be given face mask if they pledged their loyalty to Hong Kong police force.

Matt’s girlfriend Lisa Chong (莊思明) dismissed it online and pointed it was fake news. Eileen Yeow (姚瑩瑩) who supported the cops and posted a message on Instagram: “It is already a chaotic situation in Hong Kong and please stop making troubles. Hopefully peace will be restored in Hong Kong soon. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏”

Subsequently, Matt accepted an interview from the media and clarified it was nonsense. He will distribute to the citizens immediately if having a huge supply of face masks. Matt disclosed the restaurant was disinfected and the supply of face masks for his staff should last for 2 weeks to a month. The employees returning from Mainland China must be under quarantine for 2 weeks.
