On 9th May, Gillian Chung (鍾欣潼) is exposed for filing a divorce with her Taiwanese husband, Michael Lai (賴弘國) and they have different explanations thereafter. She has been keeping silent but Michael continues to answer all reporters’ questions including confirming an official divorce on 1st March. He also revealed Gillian did not have feelings for him.
Apparently, both agree to allow Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG) to become their spokesperson as Michael works in another industry. After the exposure of their divorce news on 9th May, EEG feels unhappy with Michael’s responses that make Gillian in an awkward predicament. Hence, he is rumoured to be scolded furiously over the phone and becomes depressed during his vacation.
On 10th May, Gillian’s manager, Mani Fok (霍汶希) confirmed with Apple Daily HK (蘋果) that EEG ordered Michael to keep his mouth shut: “Gillian and Michael signed a separation agreement and have yet to file for a divorce. Please give them some time to cool down and there might be chances for them to reconcile. Thus, we decide to announce the news after considering the situation for several months, and feel helpless when it is exposed suddenly. It causes a big impact to Michael and Gillian has no choice but to confess it. In the separation agreement, both parties must keep their divorce contents confidential and Gillian’s lawyer sends a reminder letter to Michael yesterday.”
