The fifth wave of the pandemic is currently wide spreading in Hong Kong and all food and beverage businesses are closed for more than 2 months. Some shops are even forced to shut down and TV King and TV Queen Shaun Tam (譚俊彥) and Rosina Lam (林夏薇) are in similar predicaments.

According to a news source on 19th March, Shaun opens a Western restaurant in To Kwa Wan and has been suffering from financial losses since the pandemic. As the fifth wave occurs suddenly, he offers lunch menu but it continues to suffer from a loss especially hefty rent and operating expenses. Hence, Shaun lost $100,000 within 2 months. Due to currently filming series in Mainland China, Shaun and his business partner had a meeting via video conferencing and decided to offer delivery service. They also retrenched staff and would be selling ham endorsed by Shaun as well as raw meat.

As for Rosina, she owns 19 bakery stores and decides to offer delivery service as well. She said: “It is very difficult to manage a business now. I will try my best not to retrench any staff and have stop distributing rice in Sham Shui Po, because of safety reason and the close distance poses a danger to elderly people.”
