Bob Lam (林盛斌) hosts JY2 show, MIB: Men In Binlo (人夫放假約出去滾) and invites Tony Hung (洪永城) as guest in the latest episode. Priscilla Wong (黃翠如) and Tony are good friends and perceived as an on-screen couple. Their rumours finally stopped after both found their own happiness. He disclosed his ex-girlfriend questioned if he was in love with Priscilla.
When asked if he had many girlfriends in the past, 38-year-old Tony replied nope: “Relationships are complicated. I am an introvert and lack of confidence.” When mentioned about going to pubs in Lan Kwai Fong in the past, Tony was reminded of pretending as a “rich” man and treated everyone to champagne: “I was shocked upon seeing the bill, $2,500. At the time, I worked as a cashier and was paid $9,000 only. I did not even drink any champagne and reckon the ladies had forgotten about me.”
After the graduation in 2005, Tony joined Hong Kong Cable Television and was one of the hosts for tour show (活得很滋味). He hosted it in a realistic manner and proceeded to host other programs in August 2005: “I was paid around $300 or $400 and they hired 9 people and I was the only man. I was extremely nervous and caused countless of NG when saying one dialogue. Television director lost his temper and the cameraman started to shake his head.”
Tony revealed he felt very sad upon knowing backend operation staff complained about his Cantonese and poor sense of humor: “It makes me grow up slowly and I treat it as enriching experiences. I asked Luk Ho Ming (陸浩明) for hosting advice and worked with Priscilla after that. From there, I started to build good affinity with the audiences. At the point, my ex-girlfriend even questioned about my on-screen romance with Priscilla and I told her nothing happened between us. It is up to her if she believes me.”
Asking if he ever liked Priscilla, Tony hesitated for a few seconds and said: “My answer might make you disappointed. Nope. (Good friends only?) Yes. (Are you sure?) Yes. We are working partners and good friends. (Priscilla is pretty. Is she not your cup of tea?) I do not know how to answer you. Anyway, there is no sparks between us and we are not compatible in terms of character.”
Despite that, both remained as good friends and Priscilla felt unhappy because of certain reasons after Tony joined TVB: “We chatted on the phone for consecutive nights and she was crying while talking. We help each other during bad times and a woman working in show business is not easy at all.”
When asked if his old love, Natalie Tong (唐詩詠) supported him during his difficult times in recent years, Tony said: “Yes, it is very important. We go through it together and it is a pity that we break up as broken glass can never be repaired to its original state. No choice, our destiny have ended.”
