Gillian Chung (鍾欣潼) is invited to Chinese dating show, 90’s Dating Agency (90婚介所) as a guest observer and it is currently broadcasting. When asked about checking if the opposite party showed any interest in the latest episode, she said: “I will guess by the communication. If I am unsure about his interest, I will tell him directly that I like him. If he does not like me, forget it.”
Mentioning about one of the boys was younger than the female participant and was very caring and kept giving her gifts, it failed to impress Gillian and she said: “I feel it is not practical if he keeps giving presents to me. He feels it is full of warmth but normal to me. It does not suit me if he gives soft toys to me.”
In the ending part, the guest observers were engaged in a heated discussion about take care and accompany. Meng Fei (孟非) who is an experienced host expressed he felt very sensitive about “take care” and explained: “Taking care of each other is essential and I do not simply look for someone because of that reason. She will also asks about accompany her if I have a busy work life. It is called get along.” At this point, Gillian asked: “How to get along if you do not accompany her?” Meng Fei replied: “Accompany and get along are 2 different words. Get along means dating and I dislike to hear the word, accompany.” Gillian pointed that men who were willing to spend time with women meant love. A psychologist said: “The words we use are very important and It will cause conflicts easily, if having different definitions.”
Subsequently, Gillian questioned everybody if they could accept men younger than them and disclosed she used to date a man younger than her by 10 year old: “We have different perspectives and must accept reality. (Different life perspectives?) Yes.”
In 2018, 41-year-old Gillian was married to Taiwanese doctor, Michael Lai (賴弘國) who is younger than her by 8 year old and was rumoured to date 38-year-old Juno Mak (麥浚龍). During an interview with Chinese media, SINA entertainment (新浪娛樂) in early June, she expressed she rejected to date men younger than her as she needed to educate and wait for him to grow up.
